Duties – professional competences:

  • conducting line maintenance inspection and rectification of minor defects of elements, components and systems of military planes;
  • conducting line maintenance inspection and rectification of minor defects of elements, components and systems of military helicopters;
  • ground handling and maintenance of military aircraft;
  • reading, writing and communication in English, the language of technical documentation for military aircraft.

Qualification foundation

Qualification is based on job description, objectives and outcomes of vocational education. Rights, liabilities, and responsibilities of Aircraft Maintenance Technician are defined by the document of the European Committee (EU) 1321/2014 (Regulation on the continuing airworthiness of aircraft and aeronautical products, parts and appliances, and on the approval of organisations and personnel involved in these tasks) and the Aircraft Technical Service Rule (no. 119-9/85), the Rulebook of Maintenance of Military Equipment and Armament of the Ministry of Defence and SAF (OMG no. 6/2013) and functional competences regulated by the Instructions on SAF Units Operations which regulate measures, activities and actions of technical service personnel for military aircraft maintenance.

Following the satisfactory completion of study programme, if one meets the requirements defined by “The Aviation Academy Regulations on the conditions for obtaining licence”, the person is entitled to take theoretical exams for category A licence.

A category aircraft maintenance licence permits the holder to issue certificates of release to service following minor scheduled line maintenance and simple defect rectification as specified in standard PART-145, always within the limits of tasks specifically endorsed on the authorisation.

This category is divided into following subcategories, with regard to combinations of airplane, helicopters, turbine and piston power plants:

  • A1 Aeroplanes Turbine;
  • A2 Aeroplanes Piston;
  • A3 Helicopters Turbine;
  • A4 Helicopters Piston

The curriculum for the Aircraft Maintenance Technician education profile is in compliance with EASA PART – 147 and PART – 66 standards.

Students may apply for Student Scholarship Contest of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia. Upon graduation from high school, the students who are awarded scholarship are sent to relevant armed military training. Following satisfactory completion of the training, they will join professional military service as non-commissioned officers in compliance with the Act on the Serbian Armed Forces.
