Укратко, језик треба да буде средство за препознавање потенцијалног проблема и помоћ у његовом решавању, пре него што се догоди несрећа, а не да буде препрека која одвлачи пажњу.
Више од 800 људи је изгубило животе у три велике несреће. У свакој од ових наизглед различитих несрећа, истражитељи су открили заједнички елемент: недовољно висок ниво познавања енгелеског језика летачке посаде или контолора имао је велику улогу у ланцу догађаја који су довели до несреће.
Поред ових медијски пропраћених несрећа, много других инцидената, или за мало избегнутих несрећа, дешава се сваке године, као резултат проблема са знањем језика, што је довело до преиспитивања процедура и стандарда комуникације широм света.
